Y5-6 Art – Term 3 Week 9

Year 5-6 students embarked on an exciting journey today as we delved into the technique of illustration by the renowned artist Eric Carle.

To kickstart our exploration, we watched a captivating video clip titled “A House for Hermit Crab.” During our discussion, we marveled at how colors emerged vividly on watercolor paper and blended seamlessly, creating stunning effects.

Inspired by this, we eagerly picked up our watercolor paints and began experimenting with a variety of colors on the paper. Witnessing the magical interplay of hues, we were thrilled with the beautiful blends we achieved. Looking ahead, we are excited to channel our creativity into drawing enchanting sea animals on the watercolor paper next week.

Utilizing the techniques we observed and the skills we acquired, we aim to bring these creatures to life with intricate details and vibrant colors.

In addition to our watercolor exploration, we successfully completed the creation of 3D shapes representing various animals.

The process involved careful cutting, folding, and assembling to bring the animals into tangible form. This hands-on activity allowed us to understand the spatial aspects of these creatures and appreciate their unique characteristics.
