Message from the Board

It is a great privilege to welcome you to our school.

Hyundai Foreign School has been fulfilling the educational needs of children since 1982 – starting with those of the clients of Hyundai Heavy Industries and growing to include all eligible children in the local community. We are deeply proud of the fact that we have been steadfastly providing quality international education as the only international school in Ulsan area and the oldest international school in the southeastern part of Korea.

In today’s world, educators around the world are faced with the challenge of teaching children the important academic skills that they will need in the future whilst also helping them grow to become creative and critical thinkers who can tackle problems in close collaboration with others. These skills and states of mind are essential in the increasingly complex and inter-connected world. That is why our Core Values include curiosity, leadership, respect and growth mindset and we strive to integrate these values into everything we do. We are endeavouring to nurture future global citizens who will take responsibility for making the world a better place.

2022 marks the 40^th anniversary of our establishment which is a major landmark in the history of the school. At this important juncture, the School Board would like to renew our commitment to building a strong, sustainable and forward-thinking educational institution with the support of our vibrant school community.

현대외국인학교는 1982년 이래 현대중공업 고객의 자녀들을 시작으로 지역사회의 입학자격을 갖춘 모든 어린이들을 대상으로 국제교육을 담당해왔습니다. 특히 저희는 울산지역의 유일한 외국인학교로서, 영남권의 가장 오래된 전통을 지닌 국제 교육기관으로서 변함없이 양질의 국제교육을 제공해온데 대해 자부심을 느낍니다.

오늘날 세계 각국의 교육 전문가들은 학생들이 미래를 위해 꼭 갖추어야 할 필수 적인 지식뿐만 아니라 창의력과 비판적인 사고력을 갖고 다른 사람들과 밀접한 협업을 통해 문제를 해결할 수 있는 능력도 갖출 수 있도록 해야 하는 과제를 안고 있습니다. 이러한 지식과 협업능력, 창의성, 비판적인 사고력은 갈수록 복잡해지고 상호연결성이 높아지는 세계 무대에서 중요성이 더욱 커지고 있습니다. 그런 이유에서 저희 학교에서는 모든 교육 과정에 있어 10개 핵심 가치 중 특히 호기심, 지도력, 상호존중, 성장 마인드셋(Growth Mindset)을 학생들이 실천하며 습득할 수 있도록 하고 있습니다. 이를 통해 학생들을 장차 보다 나은 세상을 만들어 나갈 책임감 있는 국제 시민으로 키워내는 것이 저희의 목표입니다.

2022년은 저희 학교 역사에 있어 매우 중요한 이정표가 되는 창립 40주년의 해입니다. 이와 같이 중요한 시점에 현대외국인학교 이사회는 학교 커뮤니티와 함께 견실하고 지속 가능하며 미래지향적인 교육기관을 만들기 위해 노력할 것을 새롭게 다짐합니다.
