Y 3-5 Art – Term 3 Week 1

This term we will know learn about number of artists – including some from their home country and our host country.

We would like to take the time to introduce famous Korean artists since we are living in Korea.

In the first class this week, we learned about traditional Korean calligraphy, Korean painting, and folk painting. We began to understand the appearance of traditional brushes and differences from Western brushes.

Because oriental brushes are difficult to use, the children started with drawing basic lines using a brush pen. They wrote consonants and vowels, and looked at the sample letters and tried writing ‘Good Day’.

It was a great challenge and everyone produced some wonderful calligraphy work.

In the next lesson, we will learn how to write calligraphy sentences and how to draw the traditional “Four gentlemen”.
Everyone did a great job!
