Last week was a busy but successful week. Well done to all of the children for their energy and enthusiasm throughout the International Week and World Book Day events and activities!

F2 Cooking Club tomorrow:

Tomorrow’s Cooking Club recipe is ‘Cake in a Mug’. Please remember to send your child to school with their ingredients for this recipe and also a large, microwaveable mug, safely wrapped or protected inside a container. We thank you in advance for this!

EYC Playground Rules

EYC playground rules have been updated and are viewable on the EYC Class page on the right hand side under General Information and Parent Volunteers. F2 parents who are scheduled for assistance at the EYC through lunchtime supervision, please familiarise yourself with the EYC playground rules. Your help and assistance during the lunch hour is extremely helpful and appreciated by all staff.

A Reminder about Parking at the EYC

A reminder for parents parking at the EYC to be patient and consider the safety of EYC children when children are exiting the bus in the mornings. Please wait for the children to have cleared the parking area before driving close to the bus. We need to keep our EYC children safe!

Leaving HFS and Learning Journals

If your child will not be returning to HFS after the winter break, please inform your child’s class teacher and confirm this in writing to the Main School Office, confirming your child’s final day of attendance, in order to prepare a final report and leaving certificate.
The electronic Learning Journals on Tapestry can be exported and downloaded to allow children to keep their Learning Journals forever, when they leave the EYC. Once the Learning Journals have been exported, the child’s online account is deleted. The document is exported as a PDF and can be printed by parents if chosen. We ask for parents who have informed us that your child is leaving HFS, to supply a USB memory stick / flash drive the week before your child’s final day of attendance for you to receive your child’s Learning Journal. Please add your CHILD’S NAME to the USB memory stick / flash drive cover.

Important Dates:

Shared Learning – Friday 11th March

Shared Learning will take place on Friday 11th March; F1 at 11:40am and F2 at 2:50pm. The Term 2 Progress Reports and Assessments will be sent home on this day.

Parent-Teacher Learning Reviews – Wednesday 16th March

Parent Interviews are scheduled for Wednesday 16th March. The Parent Interview is an opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress after receiving your child’s Term 2 Progress Report and Assessments. A Parent Interview Request form has been sent home with your child in their book bag for parents to complete and return to school.

F1 Dinosaur Stomp – Thursday 17th March

F1’s Dinosaur Stomp will take place on the rescheduled date of Thursday 17th March. We hope all of the same parent volunteers will be able to help us on that day. If you volunteered before and cannot do the new date, please e-mail the F1 teachers to let them know.

EYC Spring Bonnet Parade – Tuesday 22nd March

On Tuesday 22nd March the EYC will host a Spring Bonnet Parade from 11:30am to 12:00 noon. For this parade, we ask for children to design and create a Spring Bonnet at home to wear and show during the parade. The Spring Bonnets are judged by the EYC staff and one prize is awarded per class (F1 purple, F1 Green, F2 Yellow and F2 Blue).

Spring Bonnets must be kept at home and brought to school in the morning of Tuesday 22nd March, at 9:00am ready for judging. We invite all Mummies, Daddies and any other friends and family members to applaude the children as they parade around the EYC playground wearing their spring bonnets (weather permitting).

Below are some ideas of how the children could create their own Spring Bonnet.
When the spring bonnets are judged, teachers will look for,
• Bonnets which represent the children’s own ideas
• Bonnets which have been made, as much as possible, by the children themselves
• Bonnets which show the children’s imagination
• Again, bonnets which are the children’s work, as much as possible.
