Y7-9 Art – Term 2 Week 7

This week in art class, we learned about the life of Georges Seurat, a famous artist known for his unique pointillism technique. We talked about his background, where he grew up, where he went to school, and what inspired him to become an artist.

We also delved deeper into the pointillism technique, explaining how artists use small dots of color to create a larger image. The kids were fascinated by this method and we looked at some of Seurat’s famous works to see how he used it.

To further their understanding, I gave the kids some questions to make their own PPT presentations, such as who Georges Seurat was, his most famous painting, information about his famous works, how he used color in his paintings, the key characteristics of pointillism, how his work influenced other artists, and interesting facts.

Overall, it was an engaging and educational week, and I’m excited to see what the kids come up with in their presentations.
