Welcome to this week’s newsletter. It has been wonderful to see the gloriously sunny weather recently, and this has been a timely reminder for HFS and all our families to consider skin safety in the sun. Please ensure each child has a peaked cap and refillable water bottle when coming to school each day, both clearly labeled with the child’s name. Parents can apply sunscreen before the children come to school, however, no adult at HFS can apply further sunscreen to the children during the day. Additionally, students are not allowed to apply sunscreen to each other.
HFS Sports’ Day and a change to the school programme
We are looking forward very much to the annual HFS Sports’ Day which will be held at Spanish Fields on Thursday 15th June, and Mr. Moss will send home further information regarding this nearer the date.
As Thursday 15th June was the only available date at Spanish Fields for the event, there will be a change to the weekly programme at HFS. As I have mentioned above, the warm weather has arrived in Ulsan, and we are aware that this will almost certainly be the same for our Sports’ Day. Consequently, all children will go home at the conclusion of the sports’ meeting from HFS, at no later that 1 p.m. This will allow some recovery time for our students, and our staff! To compensate for this, Wednesday 14th June will be a full school day, and follow the regular Thursday timetable and curriculum. Please see below:-
- Wednesday 14th June – school hours 8.55 a.m. to 3.15 p.m.
- Thursday 15th June – school hours 8.55 a.m. to 1 p.m. (latest)
This term will unfortunately see some of our families moving on. Leaving families must inform the admin office (admin@hyundaiforeignschool.com), and the class teacher, at least one week in advance of any leaving date. Please also discuss with the class teacher the printing of this term’s report, if this is required before Friday 23rd June, when all end of year reports will be sent home.
End of Year gift giving
The school faculty recognises and very much appreciates that some families wish to show their thanks by giving gifts to individual class teachers, at the end of the academic year, or because the family is leaving HFS. Whilst the school truly does appreciate the kind generosity of our families, we are bound by the recently introduced Anti-Graft laws. Please do support the school in this important matter and adhere to the following instructions regarding gift-giving at this time.
- Leaving teachers and other leaving staff members may be presented with gifts.
- All leaving families may present gifts to any HFS staff member.
- Faculty members for academic year 2017 / 2018 (Ms. De Klerk, Mr. McCrimmon, Mr. and Mrs. Munden, Mr. Blacklock), cannot accept any gifts from those students who will remain at HFS for the new academic year.
HFS Open Morning Saturday 20th May from 10 a.m.
This Saturday HFS will hold an Open Morning to present information regarding the new academic year. Although all families are invited to come to this meeting, it’s primary purpose is to provide information for families who are new to HFS, or may be considering joining our school. Much of the information in this session was covered in the Parents’ Information Session held last March. If any families were unable to attend that meeting, please do join us tomorrow to hear our proposals for the new academic year.
