Weekly Update – T1W14

Good Afternoon!

We have had another busy week of learning here in Mrs Sim’s class. Time is flying with only two weeks to go until Christmas break. We are really getting into the Christmas spirit now!

Book Advent Calendar

Thank you so much for bringing in your child’s favourite book and wrapping them up so beautifully. The students have really enjoyed sharing their favourite book each day and those who are waiting are excited for theirs to be read.

In English this week we continued with our Traditional Rhymes unit and looked at poems with rhyming words in them. We wrote our own verse of the rhyme ‘Pussy Cat Pussy Cat’ and tried to think of rhyming words we could use for other poems. We also tried to think of words that rhyme with our names.  We will work more on these next week.

As you may have seen the advent calendar the students made had some rhyming words on it. This was a lovely activity and I hope they enjoy adding the fluff to Santa’s beard throughout the month.

In IPC, we are coming to the end of our Circus unit and this week looked at rules. We discussed rules that we have in school, at home and also at a circus. We spoke about the importance of following them and came up with a new set of rules for our own circus. The student’s designed posters which showed their chosen rule through art with no words. They did a wonderful job.

In PE this week we worked on balance and movement, more specifically at forming sequences. Using various balances, the students worked on their own sequences and performed them to the class.

In PSHE, Mr Green joined us and did a lesson about our bodies and appropriate touch. The students were very mature and sensible during this lesson and I was very impressed with their contributions to the discussion. Well done to them all<3

Mrs Sim – The Elf

We have a new friend in class right now. Her name is Mrs Sim “The Elf” and she watches over us as we study hard and make good choices in class. When the school closes and everyone goes home, the elf sometimes moves around the classroom. HeHe! The children love seeing where she has moved to in the morning.

That’s all for this week. I hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to another exciting week ahead next week.

Mrs Sim 🙂
