Weekly Update – T1W4

Term 1 Week 4

Dear Parents!

What an end to the week 🙂 We have had such a great day celebrating Korean thanksgiving – Chuseok. We made Ddakjis (small square toys that you can flip over), learned about what we wear, eat and do on chuseok and had great fun playing all the traditional games this afternoon. It was lovely to see everyone’s beautiful hanboks. We were a little sweaty playing in them so I think long showers will be needed tonight-hehe! 🙂

This week in English we have read some great stories . I think our favourite was ‘Trixie Stickybeak’- a story about a penguin who was always late.  We also looked at adjectives whilst studying the rhyme “Incy Wincy Spider. We described the spider as big, hairy, scary, long and furry! We have continued working on capital letters, full stops and beautiful handwriting during our rotations in writing. We also introduced some fun ‘Work work’ activities to practise our sight words.

In IPC we started our new unit “ If you are happy and you know it” and are learning all about emotions. We read the book “The Colour Monster” and created our own colour monsters to show each emotion. The children had a lot of fun doing this. They did so well and so we have decided to try and make our very own Emotions Book using the pictures we created. It is a great unit where the children learn how to express themselves and what to do when they feel a certain emotion.

Library books and homework went home as usual today.

It was Sarah’s birthday yesterday and we all enjoyed a lovely cupcake from her and sang Happy Birthday in class. Thank you!

As you all know, next week is the Chuseok Holiday. I hope you all have a wonderful time with your family. Eat lots of delicious food and enjoy the time together.

See you all back in class on the 27th September. Take care <3
