First Week Done!

We have had a wonderful first week and everyone has made a great start to the new academic year.

I have been particularly impressed with the confidence all of our new students have shown and the responsibility for looking after them shown by our returning students.

Volunteering

At HFS we value having a strong bond with our community and one way to achieve this is by having parents volunteering in the school.

If you would like to volunteer at school we would love some people to help with:

  • Library – We would love to have some people to help out on Fridays when most of the students change their library books. Miss Yuli would love to have someone to help with keeping the library tidy and returning books to the shelves. If you would like to, you could also help students choose books that are right for them.
  • Swimming – We would like to offer swimming as an after-school activity on a Monday. In order to do this, we need two volunteers to help supervise the students. Swimming will be taught by Mr de Klerk, who is a qualified swimming instructor and the volunteers are needed to meet legal requirements for supervision.
  • Running an after-school activity – Have you got a skill or talent you would like to share with some eager young minds? Can you teach baking or your native language. We would love to have some after-school activities run be parents so if you have an idea drop us a line. The school would support you in every way possible.

If you would like to volunteer at school in any way please get in touch.

Parent-Teacher Association

The PTA is for parents, teachers, students and administration to work together to support the school through social events, fundraising and volunteer opportunities, with the goal of enhancing the cultural, social and educational life of the school, benefit the children and contribute to the life of all members of the school community.

Upcoming Events for the PTA…

If you would like to be involved with the PTA this year please send an email to our school PTA representative, Mrs Leah – leaheyerly@hyundaiforeignschool.com

Covid-19 Test Kits

All students should have received two test kits today. If your child shows symptoms of Covid-19, please use the test kit before coming to school.

Consultative Committee

Interested parents are invited to join the school’s Consultative Committee.

The purpose of this committee is to:

  • To ensure smooth and effective communication amongst all stakeholders in the school
  • To help the school community acquire an improved understanding of the operation of the school
  • To more readily listen to the views and opinions of the school community and reflect them in the management of the school

This group would meet once a term to discuss the schools operations.

If you would like to be involved please send an email to Mr Green.

40th Birthday Party

We will be holding a special event to celebrate the school’s 40th birthday on Wednesday 7th September.

We will be inviting some special guests and holding a ceremony in school. The students have also been challenged to think about what their life will be like 10 years in the future when the school is 50 years old. We will also be creating a time capsule containing letters and memories to be opened in 2032.

On Wednesday 7th September class will also be holding parties to celebrate the school’s birthday.

Chuseok

The school will celebrate the Korean holiday of Chuseok on Thursday 8th September. Students are invited to come to school wearing Korean Hanbok or traditional dress from their home country. Dressing up is optional. On this day Mrs Lee, our Korean Teacher, will be talking to the students about the meaning of Chuseok.
