Another super busy week in the year 5-9 class as we begin to delve deeper into our learning and discovery for each subject. We have spent some time this week practicing our performance for the Chuseok celebration, which will take place on Monday. For this performance, the students have been working together to create a traditional Korean fan dance for the school to enjoy. We hope you can join us on Monday for the Chuseok celebration.
We started our Collaboration Unit from the IMYC this allows to have good coverage of history, geography, and science for each week. In Geography we began to look at the difference between climate and weather. The students used atlases to discovery the hottest, coldest, wettest, etc places on earth and lable these on a map.
In history, the students have started work around the Civil Rights Movement, as an introductory lesson to this we looked at Africa and what it was like in 1600 when Europe began to make an impact on the continent. The students, looked at different sources and answered questions, deciding whether the Europeans were right to call Africa uncivilised.
Since last week in English, the students have been working on writing stories, which includes a portal to a new world. They have recently looked at figurative language, direct speech and fronted adverbials.
Have a good weekend everyone, I hope to see you all on Monday!
