Hi everyone. We are at the halfway point of term 3 and the HFS events continue to come in thick and fast. This week we had the HFS sports day and next week it will be the residential trip.
The learning doesn’t stop in the classroom either, we have now come to the end of our English unit on Pre-20th Century fiction around Frankenstein. Next week the students will move on to writing skills and writing their own narratives, we will also look at narrative structure and character to make sure our stories are engaging and successful.
In Geography we continued our work around Plate Tectonics this time the students focused on how earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes are caused. To show this the students needed to draw a diagram and write an explanation underneath.
For Science, we finished off our Trophic level pyramids and the students also looked at predator-prey relationships. The students need to create a graph that showed the relationship between predators and preys and then answer questions around it.
The week ended with the HFS Sports Day which was a lot of fun and a great success. There were class events with individual winners from each class as well as team events and the teams were made up with children across the school. It was great to see a lot of great athleticism, teamwork, leadership by all. I was very impressed with the Year 7,8,9 class in leading their teams in each event. Well done to Yellow Team ( Mr Dunn’s) in winning 3 out of the 4 team events.
