Hello everyone! As we come to the end of our first half-term together – with the Chuseok break about to start – we have had another exciting week!
I wanted to have some fun with the students in Maths and take our learning outside, this week we investigated how quick we are compared to Usain Bolt. We measured 50m (couldn’t find a large enough area for 100m) we timed each student and then took this back to the classroom to make our comparison. First, the children had to calculate their speed and then convert it to the same measurement I provided so they could compare it with Usain Bolt.
All of this week in English has been dedicated to writing our dystopian stories, they planned their stories first and after that, they’ve been writing their drafts. It has been hard for the students, as I have really pushed for writing at length, but I have been very impressed with the quality of writing. I also hope after the Chuseok break, to get the students to type these up and post them on here for you to read.
Much of our work in the afternoon has been around creating a personal time capsule, this links well with our Topic of discovery and also gave me another opportunity to get to know each student more.
The final day of the week was dedicated to Chuseok and the day was packed with fun activities, learning around Chuseok and parents coming in and enjoying the day with the school. I have to say, I had an excellent day and really enjoyed it and I am sure the students did as well.’
I hope each and everyone of you has a wonderful Chuseok break!
