Hello all! We’ve been busy at HFS this week with plenty of learning and fun and an important event.
In maths this week, we came to the end of our unit on statistics. To wrap things up, we learned how to draw pie charts as well as how to
calculate the mean (find the average). The children had fun finding out things like the average height of our class and the average temperature for the week.
In English this week, we finished up our topic of newspaper report writing by creating our own articles about last week’s International food share event. We then delivered them, ‘newspaper boy style’, to the Y7/8/9 class for their reading pleasure.
In IPC, we carried out an investigation into natural selection using spaghetti ‘worms’. The children carried out the investigation with due concern for scientific protocol and they were able to evaluate the results while suggesting improvements they could make if they were to repeat it.
In music, we have been designing our own musical instruments. The children have now started constructing their creative designs.
This week also saw us celebrate World Book Day. The children got to enjoy dressing up and they were delighted to receive the excellent books that the PTA kindly provided. Hurrah!
That’s all for now folks! Enjoy the weekend!
