Good afternoon everyone,
This week was our first week back with the whole school. It’s so nice to have everyone back again.
This week in Year 1/2, we have been learning about shapes. We revised the names of common 2D and 3D shapes and then described and sorted them by their properties.
In literacy, we have been learning about how to use commas in a list. We made lists of things that pirates need and then wrote them in sentences using commas to separate the first two items.
In our IPC work this week, we have been learning about where pirates visited. We used Google Earth and Google Maps to find and locate different continents, countries and oceans around the world.
We then learned new vocabulary to describe the different geographical features of the places that pirates visited.
We also learned about Christopher Columbus who was a famous explorer that sailed around the world to find treasure.
We then compared two contrasting climates and thought about what things a pirate would need to take if they visited that country.
Next week, we will be doing GL assessment for Literacy and Maths in class to assess children’s attainment and progress. These will be discussed during parent/teacher conferences at the end of the term.
That’s all for this week.
Have a great weekend!
