Good afternoon everyone,
We have made it to the final day of Term 2. I hope you all enjoyed our final assembly. Well done for reading your poems. You did a great job! Also, a special well done to those of you who received awards for attendance and the awards for Citizenship and the Commendation. I hoioe you are very proud of yourselves.
This term has been very different but it has still been fun and productive! In our final week, we have been writing and reciting poems, using measure to solve problems by comparing length and weight and talking about body hygiene.
Here are some pictures of this week’s learning:
Next week, we will be beginning our new units for Term 3. Click here to see our Term 3 Curriculum Overview.
Our new topic will be called ‘Green Fingers’. We will be learning about how plants grow and how to look after them. As part of this unit, we will be doing some investigations involving growing and observing plants and herbs. It would be really useful if you have access to the following for next week:
A pot plant herb – e.g. parsley, basil, dill, coriander, mint, lemongrass (don’t tell the children what it is as they will be trying to work this out)
Quick-growing herb seeds
Nylon panty hose (tights or stockings)
I hope you all have a great weekend. See you on Monday!
Good afternoon everyone!
Well done again to all of Year 1/2 this week. I am so impressed with how hard all of you are working from home and you have produced some great work!
This week, in Literacy, the children have used their senses to help write a poem and recite them to each other. They have worked so hard that we will be sharing one of the poems that they have written in the final assembly next week!
In maths, we have been learning to choose and units different units of measure.
In IPC, we have been learning about staying healthy. We read ‘Supertato’ and made our own super vegetables. We then learned about healthy food and exercise and made posters about how to stay healthy.
In your pack this week, you will find a hard copy of your child’s report for this term. We will also be having a parent-teacher conference next week to discuss these. Please remember to make an appointment on the sign-up sheet.
Next week on Tuesday, we will be learning how to measure weight using kitchen scales. In your learning pack, there is an example of a simple recipe that you can follow to make some biscuits. If you do not have the ingredients, you can choose your own recipe. Please try to choose a recipe that measures the ingredients using grams so that the children can practise reading the scales.
Thank you once again for all your help this week. I hope you have a great weekend.
Firstly, it’s so nice to see some of you again over video chat. We are very sad that some of our class won’t be able to join us for eLearning and we are missing them.
Secondly, well done to the children in Year 1/2. You have all been superstars! Each of you have worked really hard and produced some great work.
In maths this week, we have been learning to read and tell the time using o’clock and half past in analogue and digital time. Our literacy unit is poetry. This week, we have been reading, discussing and writing poems. We have also been learning about adjectives and noun phrases that we can include in our poems. Our IPC topic this week has been senses. Thank you to all the parents for your help with the activities. I hope you have had fun exploring your different senses! Here are some pictures of some of the work that you have been doing at home this week.
You have been sent a pack with the resources and worksheets that your child will need for next week. I have tried to label these clearly for you. Remember that Wednesday is election day so we will have a 4 day week. We will have a meeting at 9am on Monday morning.
Have a great weekend.
