Good afternoon everyone,
Welcome back. I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable break for the lunar new year and you are excited and ready to continue term 2.
This week in Year 1/2, we began our new IPC topic called ‘Buildings’. We began our topic by talking about different buildings and making them using different materials in the classroom.
We then went on a learning walk to find different buildings in our local area. We also noticed other structures in the area, such as bridges and pagodas. We took photographs of what we found and drew sketches to help us to remember.
When we got back to school, we used our sketches and photographs to help us talk about the buildings in the local area and make observational drawings from our pictures. After this, we looked at a picture of Ulsan skyline and tried to make our own pictures in the style of Van Gogh ‘Starry Night’ by using different colours and patterns to recreate the buildings.
In our Literacy work this week, we used our story map that we created last week to help us plan and start writing a story. The children have been working so hard and have really impressed me with their story writing.
In maths, we have been learning how to multiply. We started by learning that multiply means ‘lots of’. We then used objects and pictures to help us calculate multiplication number sentences and solve problems.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend after a fun and busy week. See you next week.
