Class Update

Hi everyone,
Thanks for a great first week. It has been lovely getting to know all of the children a little bit and watching them get to know each other.

This week, we have been settling into year 1/2 and learning about the daily routines. The children are now becoming familiar with the classroom environment and rules and have settled really well.
In Literacy, we have been learning about stories in familiar settings. We read a book called ‘A Squash and a Squeeze’ and have been learning about the characters and setting.
In maths, we have been doing practising counting and learning to find 1 more/ less or 10 more/less.

We also had fun exploring Professor Spark’s Learning Lab and helping him to find out about our brains so we can use them to help us learn. Didn’t we look the part?

Next week, we will be continuing to learn about stories with familiar settings and doing some number work. Hope you have a great weekend!

Welcome to Year 1/2!

Hi everybody!

I hope you have all had a great break and that you are feeling ready for the new school year ahead. My name is Laura Nurse. I have just moved to South Korea from the UK and I am very excited to be teaching here at Hyundai Foreign School. This is my first time living and teaching internationally so it will be a new experience for me as well as for some of you.

Just to tell you a little bit about myself; I was born and raised in Lincolnshire, England, by the coast and I then moved to Sheffield to study at Sheffield Hallam University. I have a degree in Early Years Education and I have been qualified for the past 5 years. Within that time, I have taught both year 1 and 2 and worked for an educational publishing company.

In my spare time, I love to travel, go walking, socialising and I enjoy playing music and singing.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I hope you have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday!
