Dear Parents

We are mid-way through the term and many exciting things are happening at HFS. We have a number of significant events and activities planned for this half of the semester that I am eager to share with you.

Term Planner Updated

We have updated the term planner to show planned and finalized dates for upcoming events. Please take note of the dates of school trips, the Scary Dress-up Day, Fall Fun Day and Open Day that we have added to the calendar.

Permission form for Y4-9 trip to Yangdong Cultural Village

The year 4-9 students will visit Yangdong Cultural Village on the 2nd of November. This is part of their Geography and History units where they will look at historical settlements and previous ways of life. They will also get to design an eco-dwelling as part of the trip. We kindly ask that parents contribute 10,000 won and fill out the permission form by clicking here by Friday 26 October.

Permission form for Y1/2/3 trip to Kidzania

The year 1-3s will be learning about a day in the life of people with different jobs as part of their IPC curriculum. Kidzania theme park in Busan offers an unforgettable opportunity for students to be able to experience different jobs in an exciting real-world setting. We would like to visit the Kidzania them park on either November 6th or 8th. Parents who would like their children to be a part of this unmissable trip should complete the online form by clicking here by no later than Monday 22 October. Note: In order for this trip to be viable all parents must agree for us to make the group number of 15 and secure the discount for admission.

Scary Dress-up Day

October the 31st is a noteworthy and fun day on the calendar. At HFS we plan to celebrate this with some spooky and fun activities for the students to participate in. As per the holiday’s tradition we would like to provide each student with a small bag of sweet “Treats” and we are asking each parent to donate a bag of candy toward the festivities. Please send the candy item (with no nuts in it) to school by Friday 26 October so that we have sufficient time to put the treat bags together.

GL Assessment Week

From October 22 to October 29 We will be conducting GL Assessment tests for the year 2 to Year 9 students. These formative tests (for which students do not prepare) are designed to assess and inform teaching and learning by providing a gauge of the students current learning level and ability in English, Math and Science. Since we follow the British National Curriculum it makes sense that we adopt the GL Assessment program which is the leading provider of formative assessments to UK schools, as well as providing assessments for overseas ministries and British, bilingual and international schools in over 100 countries worldwide. I look forward to seeing the positive results from our hard-working students.

That is all for this week. Thank you for your continued support.

Best regards,
