Dear Parents and Children,
The first week of Term three has whisked by and what a great week it was. Teachers took advantage of the delightful weather and moved the learning out of the classroom to enjoy Spring and all the lovely things nature has to offer. We even had an outdoor Math lesson practicing counting by literally jumping on a number line.
In English we talked about Fantasy Stories and began reading imaginative stories by John Burningham. It being Earth Day we also discussed how we can take care of our environment and what it means to be an endangered or extinct creature. Living things will play a large role in our learning this term as we focus on Flowers and Insects in our IPC unit. The students had an enjoyable time looking for living and non-living things around the school and surroundings. We also began our first scientific inquiry into how germs spread. We will monitor this project in the coming weeks.
The Year 1-2 students have been rehearsing their assembly about “Protecting against germs”. Please feel free to attend on Monday for an entertaining lesson on hygiene.
Next week is Book Week and we look forward to the creative costumes that students will wear on Monday to imitate their favorite book characters. Please take part in the activities that will be held at HFS to celebrate and encourage reading.
On Monday 30 April the Year 1’s and 2’s will go on a School trip to the Botanical gardens to investigate Plants and Insects. The school will cover the entrance fee but there is a small cost of 7 000 Won for participating in a plant growing activity. We will post a detailed breakdown of the trip schedule next week.
Enjoy these pictures of your children learning this week.
Thank you and we hope you have a wonderful weekend.
