EYC News, Week 4, Monday 21st September

Posted in - Early Years News

Today, the EYC children had a thoroughly enjoyable learning experience dressing up as pirates, Peter Pan, Captain Hook and fairies for our EYC pirate’s day! Thank you to  Matthew Mueller for providing a chest for us; it was transformed into a treasure chest and all of the pirates were successful in locating their own treasures hidden inside (photos will be posted in Wednesday’s class updates).

Chuseok Dress Up

On Friday 25th September, we will recognise Chuseok (Korean traditional celebration) at the EYC through a variety of activities. Children are invited to wear either: • Korean Hanbok • Special traditional clothes from their home country, or • Clothes to represent their countries colours/flag colours.

Curriculum Meetings and F2 Phonics Meeting

Thank you to the many families who were able to attend the F1 and F2 Curriculum Meetings on Wednesday 16th September. If you have any further questions regarding the curriculum in F1 or F2, then please contact your child’s class teacher via their email. A Phonics Meeting for F2 parents is being held on Monday 5th October, 2:00pm at the EYC. The reading programme in F2 will be explained during this meeting, including how the children learn phonics and what reading looks like at home. We recommend for parents to attend this meeting as it will assist in helping your child both read and write at home. If it is at all possible, we ask for the attendance of parents only.

Thursday afternoons for F2

Please be aware that F2 children begin their ICT (computer) and PD (Physical Development) lessons at the main school on Thursday 1st October. Children will take the school bus from the EYC to the main school with their teachers after lunch. The school day for F2 finishes at 3:10pm, please ensure you are on the main school playground to collect your child at this time. Children will be dismissed from the Upper School main entrance at 3:10pm. From Thursday 1st October, all F2 children need to be collected from the main school playground at 3:10pm every Thursday. Thank you for taking the time to read the EYC news, I wish you a successful week. Gemma Goode Early Years Centre Team Leader
