Week 10 Update

Firstly I would like to welcome Ester, who joined our class today and settled in really well, the class did a wonderful job of looking after her and helping her out around the classroom and school. Secondly, don’t forget next week is Global Citizenship week, this will mean that we are off timetable and the class will be doing lots of different work around climate change. It is also a short week, there is no school on Thursday and Friday.

This week, the children have continued their work around different materials and their properties. In pairs, the students experiment with different solids and mixed them with liquids to see if they were soluble or insoluble. They also explored reversible and irreversible changes by cooking muffins and mixing bicarbonate of soda with vinegar to see the chemical reaction take place.

In English, the children wrote their own Haiku this week and also got to grips with some SPAG (spelling, punctuation, and grammar) by identifying different word types and looking at noun phrases.

In maths, the children spent the week solving problems around multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, and 1000.
