FS1-2 Art – Term 3 Week 5

We had a great time learning about insects and flowers. We enjoyed engaging in art activities, such as stamping insects around a ladybug to make friends. We also had fun creating clay ladybugs and adding them to our artwork.

This week, we learned about ants and created their nests underground. We expressed ants using stickers and fingerprints. We used sand and additional materials to show the realistic appearance of the ant nests. It was a lot of fun! Here are some beautiful artworks created by our FS1-2 friends. Well done, everybody!

Y1-2 Art – Term 3 Week 5

The Y1-2 children are currently exploring how art has evolved throughout history, from cave paintings to the printing press and now digital media. They began their journey by delving into the world of cave paintings, studying images and creating their own cave paintings on tin foil.

This week, the focus shifted to the significant changes brought about by the invention of the camera. The camera has revolutionized various aspects of human life, including the way we capture and preserve memories, document events, and communicate visually. The students had the opportunity to explore photography pictures and express their emotions and thoughts about them. They then selected a photograph they particularly liked and practiced their observation skills by drawing it.

Next week, the project will be further developed as the children learn how to use a camera. They will also have the chance to photograph different objects, adding another layer to their artistic exploration.

Y3-4 Art – Term 3 Week 5

Y3-4 students have recently engaged in a project where they designed hamburger boxes incorporating their own logos. Through discussions, we explored the factors that contribute to their effectiveness and visual appeal, including design elements such as color, typography, layout, and graphics. We examined various typographies and graphics and then proceeded to create our own unique designs.

Following this, the students used clay to craft their own hamburger models. The completed artwork by our Y3-4 students was truly remarkable. Each creation showcased their individuality and creativity. Congratulations on a job well done!

Y5-6 Art – Term 3 Week 5

Y5-6 students are currently learning about endangered species such as giraffes, gorillas, blue whales, rhinos, pandas, whale sharks, polar bears, lions, sea otters, orangutans, tigers, and elephants. These animals face the risk of extinction primarily due to habitat loss and poaching, with humans directly responsible for their decline. The first step in addressing this issue is to foster a connection and care for these animals.

As part of their learning, the students have undertaken an endangered species poster project. They have created captivating posters along with their own slogans to promote awareness and conservation. Here are the stunning posters created by our talented students.

Y7-9 Art – Term 3 Week 5

We have been learning about the package design of drinks, specifically focusing on carrier bags. In this lesson, students from Y7 to 9 were given the task of creating their own cup carriers.

To begin, we explored a variety of carrier bag designs and discussed our thoughts and feelings about them. This exercise helped us understand different design elements and their impact on the user experience. Once we had gathered inspiration and ideas, the students proceeded to design their cup carriers to perfectly fit their cups. This step ensured that the carriers would be functional and practical for holding their individual cups. With the cup as a reference, they began working on their unique designs, considering aspects such as shape, size, and handle placement. Throughout the process, students were encouraged to think creatively and experiment with different materials, colors, and patterns. They applied their understanding of aesthetics and functionality to craft carriers that not only protected the cups but also reflected their personal style. By engaging in this hands-on activity, students gained practical experience in package design while also honing their problem-solving and creative thinking skills.

This project will continue until next week.

FS1-2 Art – Term 3 Week 3

Ladybugs are a type of beetle that are often seen in gardens and parks. They are small and round, with a bright red or orange body and black spots. Ladybugs are also known as ladybirds or lady beetles. This week, the kids drew their own ladybugs. I started by showing them pictures of ladybugs and talking about their colors and spots. Then, I provided the kids with paper and crayons, and encouraged them to use their creativity to make their own unique ladybugs. We now have many cute ladybugs in the art room!

Y1-2 Art – Term 3 Week 3

This term, the students will explore the topic of ‘Creators and Communicators’ through the lens of art and technology. They will learn about the evolution of creating and communicating using technology throughout history, and how we can use digital media to create and communicate today. This week, we created our own emojis which we often use to add emotions to our texts and messages. The Y1-2 kids created their own emojis to convey specific emotions. Well done, everyone!

Y3-4 Art – Term 3 Week 3

This week, we learned about the concept of entrepreneurship and discussed its importance in today’s world. The Y3-4 students brainstormed ideas for a business they would like to start and discussed the importance of a logo in branding a business. We observed logos of successful businesses and analyzed what makes them effective. Then, I asked the students to sketch a hamburger logo idea for their business. The students chose their favorite logo design and created it.

Y5-6 Art – Term 3 Week 3

We completed our ‘Munjado’ artwork. The Y5-6 students’ pieces showed their personalities and creativity well. After that, I introduced the IPC topic of biodiversity and explained why it’s important. We also talked about and understood how to classify animals based on their characteristics. The students will make their own slogan for why we need to protect classified animals and create a poster using their created slogan.

Y7-9 Art – Term 3 Week 3

Y7-9 students have designed their own coffee brand and cup design on real cups. With these ideas, they will create products such as cup carriers and bags featuring their unique designs on the cups, which will be produced next week.
