FS 1-2 Art – Term 2 Week 3

This week, our FS1-2 friends created a tiger bag, the symbol of the year, to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
First, we observed what a tiger looked like and had time to draw a tiger. Based on that, we attached the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, teeth, and whiskers to yellow paper. Finally, we glued one more layer to the back and made a handle. they are so cute, aren’t they?

Y 1-2 Art – Term 2 Week 3

This week, Y1-2 students drew a tiger, the symbol of the year, on their lucky bag to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Tigers with various characteristics were beautifully drawn on the lucky bag, and the words “Happy New Year” were also added to wish happiness. Shall we meet our cute tigers here?

Y 3-5 Art – Term 2 Week 3

This week, Y3-5 students drew a tiger, the symbol of the year, to celebrate the Lunar New Year. We gave several types of tiger photos and the students chose the ones they wanted to draw. All photos were cropped in half and the kids had time to complete their halves of tiger photos. In this time demanding observation, the students showed concentration and all the artworks were beautifully done.
Just like the wonderful tiger drawing, I hope that all HFS students will also have a strong and powerful year.

Y 6-9 Art – Term 2 Week 3

This week Y6-9 students completed our stop motion poster.

We planned how to create our own ‘Lego Stop Motion’.

We made 4 groups and each group created their plan with different ideas.

We tested the camera and how to shoot and how to move the Lego object.

It was a really interesting activity. We enjoyed this lesson a lot.

We are looking forward next week when our ‘Lego Stop Motion’ is recorded.

Thank you to Mr.Green and Mr. De Klerk for helping us!!

FS 1-2 Art – Term 2 Week 2

The topic for FS1-2 friends this term is ‘Animals’

We are going to learn about a variety of animals this term.

This week FS1-2 friends learnt about the ‘Penguin’, which is one of the arctic winter animals. We talked about where penguins live and what they eat and how they look.

We practiced to draw on a white board and created our own penguins using black and white paper for the body, yellow paper for the penguin’s bill and webbed feet.

Here are our cute penguins! 😊

Y 1-2 Art – Term 2 Week 2

Y1-2 students have completed our teddy bear’s sweater.

I think our teddy bears are not cold anymore. 😊

In the rest of the time we added work to create our wooly mittens for our teddy bears.

Well done, everybody!

Y 3-5 Art – Term 2 Week 2

Y3-5 students are on progress to create magical Snow Globe scenes. This week we drew the movement of skating and added shoelaces to our ice skates. They really enjoyed this activity. It will be completed next week and we will have some Lunar new year activity in the rest of the time.

Y 6-9 Art – Term 2 Week 2

This week we shared our favourite stop motion animation.

We shared our feelings after watching each stop motion animation. We also talked about how the progress is and how we would create it like that.

After appreciating time, I gave some subjects to make a poster for each student as below.

  • What is stop motion animation?
  • How did it originate from first?
  • The process of stop motion.
  • Stop motion video examples.
  • What object can we use?
  • Storyboard planning.
  • Photographing & editing.
  • Set up for stop motion.

Next week we will create a simple ‘Lego stop motion’.

I would love to thank Mr. Green for his help in setting up our stop motion equipment like camera and lights.

FS 1-2 Art – Term 2 Week 1

FS1-2 friends learned about how the weather is now and what type of clothing to wear to stay warm and explored with this art this week.

We found some new vocabularies about winter clothes.

After that we drew a pattern on our warm wool hat with oil pastels and coloured with water colour paints. On the top of our hat we put added cut yarn. It was very impressive to see their cutting skills improving.

FS1-2 friends concentrated so well on their work today.

I am so proud of them. Their hats are so lovely.

Well done, my super stars!

Y 1-2 Art – Term 2 Week 1

Y1-2 students have learned about the winter weather and what type of clothing to wear to stay warm and explored it art this week.

We tried to sketch our teddy bear’s face and describe his fur in detail.

After that we drew a sweater to make him warm.

Our teddy bears are so cute!!! I love Y1-2 students’ sketches.

They look so cool. Everybody enjoyed this lesson. We are going to colour them next week.
