We are carefully monitoring the approaching typhoon, which is expected to arrive over the weekend or early next week. If it is not safe to open school for any reason we will be in contact via email and text message.
Please stay safe.
After School Activities
Please remember that After-School Activities start next week (Week 3) so the bus schedule in the afternoon has also changed. Please take a moment to check what time the bus will be arriving at your stop.
- Swimmers on Monday will need a swimming hat.
- Students who have signed up for Sports Club should send 105,000won in a named envelope to the Admin Office.
40th Birthday Event
We will be holding a special event to celebrate the school’s 40th birthday on Wednesday 7th September. Parents are invited to attend a special assembly at 1.45 pm. If you would like to attend the assembly please contact the Admin Office so we can ensure we have enough seating.
We will be inviting some special guests and holding a ceremony in school. The students have also been challenged to think about what their life will be like 10 years in the future when the school is 50 years old. We will also be creating a time capsule containing letters and memories to be opened in 2032.
On Wednesday 7th September classes will also be holding parties to celebrate the school’s birthday.
The school will celebrate the Korean holiday of Chuseok on Thursday 8th September. Students are invited to come to school wearing Korean Hanbok or traditional dress from their home country. Dressing up is optional. On this day Mrs Lee, our Korean Teacher, will be talking to the students about the meaning of Chuseok.
Please note that school will be closed on Friday 9th September and Monday 12th September for the Chuseok Holiday
It was great to meet so many parents at our Open Afternoon this week. Remember, if you were unable to attend but would like to meet your child’s teacher they are always happy to arrange individual meetings.
Thank you the parents who have volunteered to help in the library, the library is looking good today. If you would still like to volunteer please contact Miss Yuli – firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would like to get involved in volunteering in any other area please get in touch. We are always happy to have volunteers.
Parent Consultative Committee
Interested parents are invited to join the school’s Consultative Committee.
The purpose of this committee is to:
- To ensure smooth and effective communication amongst all stakeholders in the school
- To help the school community acquire an improved understanding of the operation of the school
- To more readily listen to the views and opinions of the school community and reflect them in the management of the school
This group would meet once a term to discuss the school’s operations.
If you would like to be involved please send an email to Mr Green.
A message from Mrs Leah (School PTA Representative)
A really big thank you and welcome to all the parents who made the first PTA meeting this Thursday! We hashed out some great ideas for the upcoming HFS 40th Anniversary event and there are so many ideas already growing for school events this year. I look forward to working with everyone and continuing to strive to make HFS a fun and memorable experience for students and families alike! If you would still like to join the PTA, or couldn’t make this week’s meeting, please email Mrs Leah.
