Dear Parents,

We have been back for a week and already everything is in full swing at HFS. I am excited for a rigorous and dynamic third term full of learning and discovery. There are a number of important announcements of which I must inform you this week.

Earth Day Assembly and Clean-up Trip
IMG_3813 IMG_3820 IMG_3829 IMG_3834 IMG_3839 IMG_3840

We started the term on 22 April. A day that is celebrated around the world as Earth Day. We chose to be environmentally conscious and spent the assembly appreciating the fantastic natural surroundings in which our school is located. The students had to switch on their senses and take note of the elements of our environment that we may take for granted. It was great to see the students interacting and appreciating the fantastic school setting. We had planned to do a trip to Daewangam Park on Monday 29 April to do a park-clean-up as part of our environmental awareness initiative but due to forecasted rain this trip will now be postponed until the afternoon of Friday May 10th. More information to follow.

Dear Parents,

I hope that you are well rested after the Spring break and your children are ready to return on Monday 22 April for what promises to be an exciting term three at HFS. There are a few important announcements I would like to share with you.

Parking Permit for Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Pick-up

I am happy to announce that we have negotiated with Hanmaeum center and parking in the open square area will be allowed in the morning and the afternoon. (8:30 – 9:30 am for morning drop-off, and 3:10 – 5:00 pm for afternoon pick-up) Parents need to apply for a parking permit at the office.  I would like to reiterate that students must be escorted by their parents to their classroom in the morning and collected by parents on the third floor of the school building. Students are not allowed to be unattended in the public area.

School Closed on Friday 31 May

A gentle reminder that due to circumstances beyond our control we will not have access to the Hanmaeum center on Thursday 30 May and on Friday 31 May. This will not affect the residential trip for the year 4 to 9 students but there will unfortunately be no school on Friday 31 May for the FS1-Y1 and Year 2/3 classes. We will arrange a full-day school trip on Thursday 30 May for the FS1-Y1 and Year 2/3 classes. More details will follow in the coming weeks. We apologise for any inconvenience and are informing you well in advance to allow you sufficient time to plan accordingly.

They have worked hard and demonstrated great character to earn their awards and this should be acknowledged and admired. Please take notice of the award plaque next time you visit the school.

That is all for this week. Thank you for your continued support and do have an enjoyable weekend.

Dear Parents,

As the bloom of the blossoms dissipates and the petals fade into the sunset so too does another term at HFS and what a term it has been. There have been many highlights in our learning journey this term, from our fantastic Seollal celebrations and Book dress-up day to the student-led bake sale and pajama party and everything in between. The students collaborated in creating amazing presentations for our International week celebrations and displayed their learning in effective weekly assemblies. It has been a full term jam-packed with fun and discovery. Well done to everyone for all their great work.

End of Term Assembly

 3 4 1 2 7 6 5

As is fitting at HFS we ended the term on a high note with a spectacular assembly. Congratulations to all of the winners of our commendation and school citizenship awards, you most certainly deserve them.

The class presentations were most entertaining. It is wonderful to see a showcase of the work that is being produced at HFS; the FS1/2/Y1 class made a fabulous book of what they have been learning about this term and the Year 2/3’s made us laugh with their rhyming. Thank you to the Year 4/5/6’s for that unique take on “The Odyssey” and the Year 7/8/9’s made an excellent demonstration of Newton’s Laws of motion. Well done to all. It was a wonderful display of the learning that is taking place at our school.

I was most impressed with the short films that came out of the movie club. They were highly entertaining works and demonstrate great creativity, planning and collaboration from all involved.

It was quite a touching moment to donate all of the clothing and 250,000 Won that was raised to the WeHope Foundation. A remarkable achievement by the student council and thank you to everyone who made that possible, you have surely made the world that much brighter and happier for someone with your contribution.

Term 3 Planner

We have already been hard at work making sure term 3 is as full and as exciting as the previous ones. Here is a link to the term 3 calendar planner for your convenience. Please take note of the significant days that may affect you. I would like to bring to your attention that the school will be closed on Friday 30 May due to circumstances beyond our control. The building will not be accessible on that day. Fortunately, it coincides with the Yea r4–9 Residential trip and as a result it will only affect FS1/2/Y1 and Year 2/3 classes. Please contact the admin office if you have any queries.

Term 3 Afterschool Club Activities

I am happy to report that we have a full complement of afterschool club activities for term 3. Club activities will commence from week 2 and you can sign up for them from Monday 22 April. This is a list of the clubs on offer on each day:

Have a wonderful spring break everyone. I look forward to the new term which commences bright and early on Monday 22 April.
