Dear Parents

Swimming lessons at Hanmaeum Center

Since HFS is located at the well-equipped Hanmaeum center we would like to take advantage of all the facilities they have to offer. A number of parents have raised the question of swimming lessons and while HFS is unable to include swimming in its core program, we have made an arrangement with Hanmaeum Center to make one swimming lane available to us for beginner and intermediate swimming lessons at the Hanmaeum center swimming pool.

The person conducting the lessons will be Mr. Taeho Cha. He is a qualified and experienced swimming instructor. He has served as the technical director of the Korea Life Saving Society and has a lifeguard License issued by The Royal Life Saving Society of Australia as well as a Swimming Coaching License issued by the Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association (ASCTA). Furthermore, he is fluent in English.

Mr. Cha will offer lessons for beginners on Tuesdays and intermediate swimmers on Wednesdays from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm respectively.

The lessons will cover the following swimming skills.
●   Beginner : Safe entry, floating, treading water, sculling and basic swimming skills
●   Intermediate : Basic swimming skills, survival swimming skills, four strokes

Since this is a private activity, separate from HFS, there will be a cost of 90,000 won for 4 lessons per month. Due to safety concerns, space for the lessons will be limited to maximum of 6 students per class and will operate on a first come first serve basis. The lessons are restricted to students aged 5 and up (Year 1 to Year 9). Please click here to complete the online survey to indicate if you would be interested in sending your child to these lessons. The form should be submitted by no later than Thursday 13 September. Furthermore, since Hanmaeum Center is a shared community space, we are calling on volunteers from the parent body who could supervise the children in the changing room before and after the lesson. If you would be prepared to assist with this, please indicate that on the survey.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best regards,

Mr. Kearney
