Many thanks to Ms. You for the time spent helping the competitors to prepare, and also for preparing the wonderful Creative Arts exhibition in the school gymnasium, which showcases the talents of many more HFS artists. The range and quality of work is breathtaking, and can only really be appreciated by seeing it firsthand. To this end, the exhibition will remain in place until Friday 16th June. I do urge you to visit the school (during office hours) if you have the opportunity over the next few days, to see the amazing range of artistic talent at HFS.

Please see our Facebook page for photographs of the HFS Music competition and Creative Arts exhibition.

HFS Sports Day – Thursday 15th June, Spanish Fields

Start Time: 9:30 am     Finish Time: 12:30 pm
Where: Spanish Fields, Dong-Gu, Ulsan

Dear Parents,

On Thursday15th June F1-Y9 students will take part in the annual Sports Day to be held at the Spanish Fields.  Students will be in mixed age teams, and will participate in several athletic activities throughout the morning, collecting valuable points in an attempt to be part of the winning team. All teams have been given the name of an animal to create even more excitement! There will also be Year group sprint races, plus tug of war competitions to add spice to the day. Participation, fun, and healthy competition are the aims for the day so please come along and support your child.

It would be appreciated if your child could come to school in their PE uniform and sports shoes. Please also ensure that your child puts sunscreen on before coming to school, and that they bring a hat, at least one filled water bottle, gloves for the tug of war event, plus a nutritious snack. All students (including EYC) should arrive at main school by 8.45 a.m. and will register in their classrooms as normal. EYC staff will meet their students in the front of school and then escort them to the cafeteria.

Students will travel to / from Spanish Fields by bus (please see * note below).
As part of the fun-filled morning, a special parent / teacher tug of war event will be held, so please come along prepared with sports shoes!

*Please note that Thursday 15th is a half day, as has been previously advertised, and there will be no afternoon classes. You may therefore collect your child once they return by bus from Spanish Fields (no later than 1 p.m.).

We look forward to your support on Thursday 15th June.

Yours Sincerely,
Mr. Richard Moss
PE Teacher

A gentle reminder of the changes to our school programme for HFS Sports Day. All children will go home after the sports meeting from the HFS site, at no later than 1 p.m. This will allow some recovery time for our students, and our staff! To compensate for this, Wednesday 14th June will be a full school day, and follow the regular Thursday timetable and curriculum. Please see below: –

To ensure the safety of our students, and for ease of organisation, parents must collect students ONLY FROM HFS after the conclusion of the event. No students are to be collected directly from Spanish Fields. All students will return to school.

  • Wednesday 14th June – school hours 8.55 a.m. to 3.15 p.m.
  • Thursday 15th June – school hours 8.55 a.m. to 1 p.m. (latest)
Rising Stars soccer school will still be at the usual time on Thursday afternoon.

Awards Assembly – Thursday 22nd June 11 a.m.

Please note the time of our final assembly of the year is 11 a.m. to enable our Early Years children to be present. All parents and family are welcome to the awarding of many prizes including final commendations, athletics ribbons, attendance prizes and leaving certificates. The assembly will take place in the gymnasium as usual.

Sun Safety at HFS – a reminder

A gentle reminder about students wearing hats as a matter of sun protection. My thanks to parents of our younger students as most of these now regularly wear hats outside. I ask parents of our older students, particularly Year 5 and upwards, to encourage some awareness of, and responsibility for, healthy lifestyle choices, and remind these students to wear a hat.

Mathletics and Reading Eggs websites

Many of our students enjoy using these school-linked websites at home in addition to their use at school. HFS is currently renewing its membership for the coming year, and adjusting our students lists. There may be some disruption in the availability of these websites, but we hope this will be resolved very soon. My apologies for any recent problems gaining access to these sites.

Late lunch or snack delivery

Parents should deliver snacks or lunches direct to the school office and not to the classroom to avoid disrupting lessons. Thank you for your help with this matter.

Please do check and LIKE our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/hyundaiforeignschool/ for photographs, student articles and updates about all that happens at HFS. Please note that this is a link for the official HFS Facebook page. In the past, other pages have been set up, and we are currently trying to determine the owners of these pages. If you know who does own these pages please ask them to contact the school Administration office.
