Dear Parents, Students and Staff,
Welcome to this week’s newsletter, the final newsletter of Term Three. As ever with any academic year, this term has passed very quickly. The students have achieved so much, and have grown both in confidence and maturity. It has been very rewarding to see.
My thanks to those parents who were able to attend the information session on Wednesday. It was a long meeting, with lots of information to take in, but I do hope we were able to successfully convey the deeply held belief that the new academic year is a wonderful opportunity for all at HFS. It is an opportunity to introduce much-needed academic innovation and rigour. It is also a great opportunity for our students to experience individualised learning, and a level of support and enrichment unmatched by other international schools in this area.
As mentioned at the meeting, you can find further information regarding the content and design for the International Primary and Middle Years curricula at this website www.greatlearning.com.
Ms. Karen McIllwraith
Those parents who attended our Presentation assembly on Thursday will have seen the happy students graduating from our EAL programme. This programme has been taught with great effectiveness by Ms. McIllwraith for the past year. Unfortunately Ms. McIllwraith leaves HFS at the end of this term, and she will be missed by all of the HFS family. Safe travels Ms. McIllwraith!
Term Three commendations
Congratulations to Conner, Danish and Abdul on receiving commendations for academic excellence in Term Three. Well done boys, and keep up the good work!
International Dance
Many thanks to the School Council for organising the international dances, and to the PTA for supporting with the refreshments. A special thank you to all the students who attended the dance and those who also bought raffle tickets. Through your efforts we were able to raise a huge KRW 350 000 for UNICEF. Well done everyone!

Diary dates
Please contact the specific class teacher(s) or the school office with any questions regarding these dates.
Thank you to students, parents and staff for making this a wonderful term. I was amazed by the number of students who received 100% attendance certificates at our assembly, particularly as this term contained some of the most unpleasant winter months. I also know many more children had 95% or better attendance for this term. I think this is as clear an indication as any of the support the school receives and enjoys from this community, and I hope this will continue to strengthen and deepen for the coming term.
Please enjoy a safe and happy holiday.

Welcome to this week’s newsletter. With just one week left of Term Two, it is good to reflect on some of the successes of this term. Collaboration between home and school is as strong as ever at HFS, as demonstrated by the extremely high parent attendance at our consultations, and the wonderful support for Book Week and International Week. I know that the opportunity to discuss the attainment and progress of the students across many subjects was timely. Teachers greatly valued sharing targets that home and school can focus on together, as this process is vital to ensure the children strive to achieve their full potential.
As a school we are always grateful for the support provided by HFS families and appreciate the joy and happiness provided by such communal celebrations as International Food share and Book Week ‘Dress Up Day’. My sincere thanks to all those who helped make these occasions very special for the HFS students.

Hi. I’m Hailey Jo, the producer of School of Rock at BeFM(FM 90.5/103.3).
BeFM is a public radio station, run by Busan Metropolit in Busan established to provide local, national and international news and a wide range of radio contents in English, Chinese and Vietnamese 24 hours a day.
School of Rock is an English-language talk show for elementary school children where they discuss current educational news and any relevant subjects and also hosted by teenagers Kevin and Michelle.
Every month, we select two elementary 4-6 graders and have them host the Sunday’s Kids News. And for April’s BeFM kid announcers will be selected among students from Ulsan and Kyungnam region.
After finishing a month’s experience as kid newscaster, they can be involved in various volunteering activities such as English mentoring at local youth centers and volunteering at international events in Busan, as members of BIKA (BeFM International Kids Angels), a volunteering group consisting of BeFM kid announcers and their parents.
We hope many talented students at Hyundai Foreign School can have this opportunity. Recording will take place once a week, on a weekday in the afternoon, at our radio station in Centum City, Busan.
Any 4 ~ 6 graders who are interested can apply by sending us an email at befmkids@gmail.com before 2:00pm on March 15th (this Wednesday). Please include their full name, school name, grade and phone number in the email.
If you need any further information, please feel free to contact me on 051-663-0036.

Dear Parents, Students and Staff,
Welcome to this week’s newsletter. This week’s parent assembly included a ‘live’ debate on the merits of social media for under 16’s. It was an excellent debate and I was very impressed with how well the debate club members articulated their points of view, and the confidence with which they delivered these. My thanks to Ms. Dingli and Ms. Fuller for their excellent work with the school’s Debate Club.
